I had a great experience at First Step. I saw Dr. Garza. She was wonderful, as was her assistant Theresa. Dr. Garza gave my husband and I several options for birth control and took the time to answer all of our questions. I was very pleased with the overall service from check in to check out. Looking forward to my next appointment.

I would not give them one star, I would give them less than half. I went to this office because I had not had my monthly menses. My family and I had just moved back to New Mexico, I thought not having my monthly menses was due to stress. I went in saw a Midwife, told her I havent had my monthly menses and I was really concerned something was wrong. They took blood, I gave them a urine sample. The Midwife came back in the room about 45 minutes later. She started reading the results your HCG levels are 8000, which I was literally like What! So congratulations are in order your pregnant, Im guessing about 2 1/2 months. I looked at her in disbelief, I told her how in hell can I be pregnant if I had my tubes tied 2000? I asked isnt that the whole point of me having them tied to prevent pregnancies? She said well having your tubes tied, doesnt mean you cant still get pregnant as I looked at her and asked if she was smoking crack? I told her I havent been to medical school, but I know that being pregnant, while having my tubes tied is not normal at all. I walked out of that office NEVER to RETURN! I went to get a second option ASAP, I went to Dr. Marco Duarte, he did a pelvic exam, he looked at me and said I need to make a call. I thought really? Right in the middle of an exam? He said, No, no Im making a personal call, Im calling the E.R they need to clear a room for you, Im sending you over. I asked why? He then proceeded to tell me my right ovary was swollen it feels really big. He soon sent me to the hospital. My husband and I couldnt believe this was happening, I was scared and crying. I had to have emergency surgery to remove my right ovary, and to retie my left tube. 4 hours later, Dr. Duarte came to the surgery family waiting room, to let my husband know everything went well. He sent the ovary to the lab. They confirmed I had Dysgerminoma Stage 1. Dr. Duarte sent me to UNM Cancer Center in Albuquerque, turns out my pregnancy , was Ovarian Cancer, they had to remove my left ovary it was in really poor condition. In the end, I ended up having a complete hysterectomy, at the age of 27. So Women please dont go here, and if you do from experience always ask for a second opinion, never take it as face value or as the final word. And yes I believe Dr. Marco Duarte, caught it early enough to prevent the cancer from spreading, and from preventing my ovary from rupturing, which would have been very, very painful. The next morning Dr. Duarte came to do his rounds at the Labor and delivery floor. I couldnt stop thanking him for helping me. He has the upmost and respectful bedside manner. So respectful when he was done with his rounds he came back to my room to watch the movie Cold Mountain with me. Until my husband was able to come see me after work. I was quite emotional at the time, and he didnt want me to be alone. So he sat there and talked about life. He is a wonderful Doctor.

I am 8 months pregnant and thought my water had broken and was having contractions and the nurse in not so many words treated me as though I was stupid and had no idea how contractions felt even though I have given birth once before. and they have called and cancelled my appointments more than once or have made me reschedule since they claim I was not doing the appointments the way they specified even though they never gave me specifics

I use to be pleased when it was First Step, but for the last year or so when it started to be a part of La Clinica de Familia I am extremely disappointed. Some of my files have been lost, so there is no record of certain things.

Worst pediatricians. Doctor saveet isnt friendly, he tries to get you out the door. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. This is the worst service I have ever gotten, and for my child? This is unexceptable.

Horrible doctor saavet told me my daughter was fine and just teething I had to take her the emergency room the same day for them to tell me she had broncolites wouldnt go back and the wait time it redicioulis!

Their needs to be doctors who actually like doing their job and do it right treat patients right learn some manners.

Waiting for more than 2 hours...last time for more than 3..and the dr says is the administration!!!I dont recommend this place at all. Hypocritical treatment of doctors... The worst care for someone who is sick and needs medical attention...
